  • What/who do they find inspiring?

  • Where is a community for your audience, offline or online?
  • What other jewelry is already available to your audience on sites such as Pinterest, Etsy, Instagram, and Reddit?

Be original!

The best way to design is to make it personal; a unique symbol of self-expression. As a designer, you have a chance to create wearable symbols that will carry memories, beliefs, and stories for your audience.


Pick the right product

Both simple and complex designs can be transformed into great products. Find out what works for you and your audience. Make sure you have the rights to sell your design.

  • Email your relevant contacts with a link to your design and ask them to share it.
  • Take every opportunity to celebrate and amplify your successes and milestones. Made a sale? Tell your followers. Got a nice compliment on Twitter? Share it with your Facebook fans too. Made it to 10/100/1,000 followers? Boast, boast like you’re Kanye at an awards ceremony!

Paid promotions.

  • Test a Facebook ad by spending up to 5 or 10 bucks. If your profit is less than your ad spending, stop your ad. If your profit is higher than your ad spending, increase it.
  • Learn from others by joining Facebook groups like Shopify Money Makers and TAssKickers

Outside the Box

  • By donating a percentage of your sales to a nonprofit you believe in, you are not only backing a worthy cause, you’re letting your followers know what’s important to you and what your goals are beyond selling accessories.
  • Gaining note and support from the right people can have a massive impact on your success. If you’ve identified an influencer that you’re connected to through your themes, topics or networks, consider offering them some swag in exchange for some exposure. Sure, it’s not a free method, but one pendant shared with the right person could pay for itself over and over again.
